Happy World Snake Day

Tuesday, July 16th, is World Snake Day! This is certainly a day of celebration! Snakes are a valuable part of their ecosystems and should not be persecuted or taken for granted. Let’s celebrate this amazing animal!

This is Lucky.

Isn’t he gorgeous? Lucky is an educational animal at Mill Mountain Zoo.

He’s named Lucky because he was hit by a weed-eater and he’s got some pretty severe scars, but other than watching the size of the mice he eats to make sure they are small enough to pass through the scarred areas, he does well. I feel very lucky to have been able to work with him for over 5 years at the zoo. I hope I can work with him for at least 5 more!
